ESD provides a wide range of services in the technology field.

Software Defined Radio:
ESD has significant expertise in the management and development of wireless systems. Past performance with these systems include project management, DSP software development, high speed interconnect fabrics, digital receivers, protocol processing layers, system controller development, prototype development, field testing and deployment to customer sites.

Range Extension:
ESD has unique experience with range extension through interference mitigation technology. ESD has implemented beam-forming algorithms for phased array sensors, and has demonstrated an effective solution for the problem of co-channel interference in signals of interest. Our experience with wireless systems includes both land-fixed and airborne systems.

Data Distribution:
ESD has extensive experience with the distribution and processing of real-time streaming data. ESD engineers have architected, designed, and implemented several processing systems including PCP (CEPT E1/E3) and current ESD IR&D efforts. Tasks have involved de-multiplexing & multiplexing (frame, time-slot, and sub time-slot), protocol processing (C2C, cellular, ISDN, SS7, etc.), correlation, mapping, filtering & selection, record, playback, generation, and streaming data distribution.

Hardware and FPGA:
ESD has experience in multi-layer printed circuit board design, FPGA design, CPLD design, million-plus gate ASIC design, system-on-chip (SoC) architecture, and SoFPGA. Embedded IP experience includes a variety of compiled SRAMs, standard and custom I/O blocks, full custom FPGA and configuration cores, memory controllers, JTAG TAP controller, and commercial microprocessor cores such as AVR and ARM. ESD engineers have front to back-end design experience that includes design and test methodology for multiple core integration and design reuse, floor planning, RTL description and synthesis, clock tree insertion, P&R, simulation at all phases, test generation, LVS/DRC and mask tapeout.

Hardware Platforms:
ESD has experience with VMEbus, Quad TI C6X processing boards, multi-channel digital drop receiver (DDR) boards, RACEway Interlink communications and multi-channel, coherent receivers. ESD has provided board support for vendors such as Pentek, Spectrum, CAC, and EDT. ESD engineers have participated in the development of COTS and GOTS hardware, at the board level, by providing architectural, systems engineering, and development support.
